Illness to prevent
Diphtheria, Pertussis (whooping cough), Tetanus
Diphtheria
Symptoms are fever, sore throat, and coughing. In severe cases, death may occur due
to suffocation, and/or heart and nerve function may be affected 2 to 3 weeks later.
Pertussis (whooping cough)
Pertussis begins with cold-like symptoms and then leads to a persistent, severe cough.
Once starting coughing, the patient will not be able to stop, and when taking a breath,
a whistling sound will be heard. Small babies are particularly in danger of developing
cyanosis, convulsions (spasms), encephalitis, and rarely even death.
Tetanus
Tetanus germ lives in soil. It is not spread between people but infects the
body through an open wound. Once the germs enter a body, they increase in
number and produce toxin, which causes the patient unable to open the mouth,
convulsions (spasms) or even death.
Type of vaccine
Inactive vaccine, toxoid
