Illness to prevent
Rubella
Rubella begins with mild cold symptoms, and then fever, rash and swelling of
the lymph nodes may occur. Children will have mild symptoms, but adults may develop
severe symptoms. In particular if women in the early stage of pregnancy contract
this illness, there will be a high probability that their babies will be born
with congenital rubella syndrome.
Type of vaccine
Live virus vaccine
Routine Vaccination (age and frequency)
It is the same as MR vaccine.
Period 1: 12 to 24 months of age, 1 shot.
Period 2: 5 〜 under 7 years old (in the last year of kindergarten), 1 shot.
Period 3: 1st grade of junior high school (being 13 years old), 1 shot.
Period 4: 3rd grade of high school (being 18 years old), 1 shot.
※Period 3 and 4 is for 5 years only, 2008 to 2012.
Optional vaccination is available for all ages. This vaccine is recommended for
all non-or low-immune people.
Side effects
Approximately less than 4 out of 100 people experience a slight fever and/or rash
and/or swelling of lymph nodes after receiving rubella vaccine.
Minimum interval between vaccinations
over 27 days
Note
Before receiving rubella, women should make sure that she is not pregnant.
And it is necessary to use birth control for two months after the vaccination.
