Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is caused by hepatitis A virus. People get infected through oral route.
This infection is common in winter and spring. Symptoms may be fever, diarrhea,
vomiting, and tiredness. The recovery takes 1 to 2 months.
Hepatitis A vaccine is recommended for people who will travel or plan to reside
in countries where hepatitis A infection is epidemic.
Type of vaccine
Inactivated vaccine
Routine vaccination (age and frequency)
16 yrs old and older: 2 shots 2 -4 weeks apart. One additional shot, 24 weeks
later.
※ For people who want to obtain immune immediately, 2 shots 2 weeks apart is recommended.
The 3rd shot should be administrated 24 weeks later.
Side Effects
Low fever, tiredness, red and swelling in the injection site may occur.
Minimum interval between vaccinations
over 6 days
Note
In the USA, 1 year old children get 2 shots 6 months apart.
