●About Influenza vaccine efficacy Influenza Vaccine Though there are many different types of vaccines with different specificity and efficacy, as I have mentioned before, influenza vaccines are not very effective at preventing influenza. The biggest reason for this is that, all the currently available vaccines are from purified viral surface proteins hemagglutinin (HA), known as HA vaccine. After being vaccinated, even though many antibodies increase in blood and prepare to fight flu viruses, there will not be enough antibodies to reach the mucous membranes of the throat or the nose, where the viruses increase rapidly in the beginning. However, being vaccinated will prevent the viruses from entering the lungs and the entire body, which will reduce the risks of serious complications. If you are vaccinated and still caught the flu, instead of thinking “what a waste to have been vaccinated”, you should be “grateful that you are vaccinated”. Car insurance can’t prevent the accident itself. However, incase of an accident, we are all grateful for being insured. Being vaccinated is just like that. |
